Wilrijk

The nearest thing Wilrijk has to a derby is the trip across Antwerp to face SC City Pirates, a fixture the local press still hasn't settled a name for, calling it simply the "Antwerp derby" or, more often, the "pittige derby" — the spicy one. An older rivalry, with FC Ekeren, has faded from the calendar; a newer one arrived in 2023/24 and 2024/25, when KFC De Kempen of Tielen-Lichtaart matched Wilrijk title for title through two provincial seasons.

The name causes its own confusion. This Wilrijk is not the club once called Beerschot Wilrijk, now K Beerschot VA — a separate outfit with a separate history. This one began on 30 September 1962 as FC Mixerboys, playing not under the Belgian federation but in the country's independent workers' football union. It joined the KBVB on 4 November 1993 as Sportkring Wilrijk, took the registration number 9307, and became Koninklijke Voetbal Club Wilrijk in 2020.

For most of this century the club's ceiling was the Third Provincial Antwerp division, which it won four times — 2003/04, 2009/10, 2013/14, 2018/19 — without ever quite leaving it behind. That changed with the Second Provincial title in 2023/24 and the First Provincial title in 2024/25, back-to-back promotions that returned Wilrijk to national football, in Third Division VV B, for 2025/26.

Home games are played at Sportcomplex Ter Beke, on Moerelei in the south of Antwerp, in yellow and blue, in a ground that holds 500.
