1 May Stadium
The change in name tracks a change in era — a park pitch turned into a proper venue as the town's football grew up around it.
The ground earned its formal homologation as a sports facility in 1930, but the structure standing today owes most of its shape to two later phases. Through the 1970s the wooden stands gave way to concrete, one section built at the start of the decade and a second raised in 1973–1974. Then, between 1980 and 1982, the whole ground was rebuilt and reinforced to host FC Olt in Romania's top flight, reopening in August 1982. Further work in 2005 and 2010 added plastic seating.
The stands have seen their share of fixtures with weight attached. In October 1973, Dinamo București's visit to Dinamo Slatina filled the ground. On 12 August 1990, Universitatea Craiova hosted Steaua here — the match moved out of Craiova because of unrest there — and finished 1-1. Romania's under-21s met Italy on the pitch on 12 October 1983, going down 0-1.
CSM Slatina now play their football on it, with a capacity of 10,000, roughly 6,500 of them seated. A demolition plan is on the table, with a new arena promised in its place, complete with undersoil heating and a hybrid pitch — for now, though, the old ground remains in use.
