ABRA-Hallen
Hommelvik, Norway
The original structure was an inflatable plastic hall, which proved unstable in the Norwegian climate. It collapsed under heavy snow in January 2009 and again during Storm Dagmar in December 2011. The original hall was demolished and replaced with a permanent steel structure, modeled after the Bankhallen in Melhus. This new steel hall was inaugurated on November 24, 2013, at a cost of 35 million Norwegian kroner.
The reconstruction included the addition of stands on the long sides, increasing the spectator capacity to 800, and the installation of high-quality artificial turf and improved lighting. The venue is owned and operated by Abrahallen AS, which is associated with Rosenborg BK, who purchased the facility in 2001. It serves as a primary winter training facility for Rosenborg BK and local clubs such as Hommelvik IL and Malvik IL. Strindheim IL uses ABRA-Hallen as a home ground for certain matches, particularly in the Norwegian Football Cup and lower division games.
Notable matches hosted at the venue include Strindheim's 2017 Norwegian Football Cup fixture against Rosenborg BK, as well as matches against Molde FK and Ranheim IL. In 2010, professional club Ranheim IL played their first six home matches in the Adeccoligaen at ABRA-Hallen while their own stadium was upgraded. The venue also hosts the annual Malvikcupen, described as Norway's largest indoor football cup. The official address is Stavsjøvegen 40, 7550 Hommelvik.
