The ground sits inside the Prince Hassan Youth City complex on the edge of Irbid, a short walk from Yarmouk University. Construction started in 1971, and when the gates opened in 1976 the stadium was built with athletics in mind rather than the game that fills its calendar now. It carries no former name of its own, though it is often mixed up with Irbid's separate municipal ground nearby.

Al-Hussein SC closed the game out 2-1 against Shabab Al-Ordon here in May 2024, a result that gave the club its first Jordanian league title. Between those two results, on 6 February 2025, the stadium held the second leg of the Jordan Super Cup final against Al-Wehdat: a goalless draw that still handed Al-Hussein the trophy, having won the first leg 3-1.

Al-Arabi and Al-Sareeh also play their home fixtures on the 12,000-seat ground, and the Jordan Cup brings its play-off rounds here alongside Pro League matches through the season. Jordan's women's national team uses the pitch as well. It remains under the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
