Alanya Oba Stadium

Alanya Oba began life as a project stuck in the ground for over a decade: construction started in 1995, and the ground did not open until 2011, a gap long enough that a whole generation of Alanya's football grew up without a proper home fixture. It has changed its commercial name five times since — from Bahçeşehir Okulları Arena through Kırbıyık Holding Stadyumu to the current Alanya RGüzel Stadyumu — which says more about the sponsorship market on the Turkish Riviera than about the ground itself.

The stadium's competitive life really starts in 2016, when Alanyaspor's first promotion to the Süper Lig forced the municipality into a hurried upgrade: new seating, new turnstiles, better lighting and media facilities, wider access roads and a 600-car park added ahead of a top-flight fixture list the ground had never been built to host. It has since taken its share of Turkish Cup ties and national team fixtures, on top of Alanyaspor's league business.

Its record attendance is a modest 8,679, set on 16 September 2019 for Alanyaspor's visit from Fenerbahçe — modest by Süper Lig standards, but a fair reading of a 9,789-capacity ground in a resort town rather than a football city. The first match played there, in February 2013, was a friendly between Galatasaray and Hannover 96, won 3-0 by the visitors from Istanbul — an odd footnote for a stadium that would not host a competitive fixture of its own for another three years.
