Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium
Pope John Paul II celebrated mass on this ground on 4 September 1990, two years after it opened. The ground carries the name of Ali Hassan Mwinyi, Tanzania's second president, who was in office at the time it was built.
It is a club ground rather than a national one. TRA United — previously Tabora United, and before that Kitayosce FC — and Rhino Rangers FC use it for their Tanzanian Premier League fixtures. Simba SC and Young Africans SC play in Dar es Salaam and come to Tabora only as visitors.
A comprehensive refurbishment followed, and in October 2025 the federation lifted the ban.
Further work had been signalled well before that. In June 2024, TFF president Wallace Karia spoke of a facelift intended to make the ground fit for international matches, pointing to the standard gauge railway as easing the journey into Tabora.
