The ground opened on July 3, 2024, replacing the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 as the home of MC Alger. It holds 40,000 spectators, with 37,144 general seats and 2,700 VIP spaces. The pitch is natural grass. The club took control of the venue under a presidential decree issued on October 30, 2023, before the stadium was even built. The construction was carried out by Zhejiang Construction Investment Group Corporation, a Chinese company; the cost was reported at 21 billion Algerian dinars, though earlier estimates had placed the figure closer to 11.969 billion.

The stadium was known during its planning phase as the Stade de Douera. It is named after Ali Ammar, an FLN fighter and Algerian War of Independence hero killed in 1957 during the Battle of Algiers. His nickname, “Ali la Pointe,” came from the Pointe des Blagueurs neighbourhood in Miliana. The venue is managed by SOGISL, a subsidiary of the state-owned energy group Sonatrach created in August 2025. There is no official website for the ground itself.
