Armavir Stadium
Football came back to Armavir in March 2022, after a gap of twenty years, when Armenia's youth side met Ukraine here in Euro 2023 qualifying. The rebuild started in 2018, stopped in 2019 over technical problems, and only restarted in 2021, by then to a redrawn design.
The Football Federation of Armenia paid for the work, with support from UEFA through its Nations League Support Programme and from FIFA — 688 million drams on the stadium itself, and a further 400 million, met by the federation alone, on four small artificial pitches alongside it.
Armavir was the first of three regional grounds taken on under that programme; Vanadzor and Abovyan followed. The name has changed twice in the process. From 1980 it was the Jubilee Stadium , marking sixty years of Soviet rule in Armenia; from 2017 it went by Armavir City Stadium .
Sardarapat were founded in 2021, debuted in the Armenian First League in 2025/26 and won it at the first attempt; in 2026/27 they play in the Premier League.
