ATCO Field
ATCO Field belongs to Spruce Meadows, the equestrian complex on the southern edge of Calgary — which makes it the rare CPL ground where the football pitch is the newcomer to a site built for show jumping. The stadium opened in 2019, with a friendly on 27 April ahead of the ground's competitive debut on 4 May, when Cavalry FC hosted York9 FC in the Canadian Premier League's inaugural season.
The natural grass surface has had real money put into it: Cavalry FC spent 9 million CAD in 2021 re-laying the pitch, a figure that says more about the club's stake in the ground than any capacity number would. At 6,000 seats, ATCO Field sits at the smaller end of CPL venues, but the setting does the rest — a stadium built inside a working equestrian estate, not carved out of a city block.
