Çaykur Didi Stadyumu

Formerly: Yeni Rize Şehir Stadyumu
A small panorama of Rize from Tea Mountain. Most of the mountain slopes are covered by tea, as you might expect from the name (I don't actually know for certain that this is the proper name, but that's what all my friends called it).

Çaykur Didi Stadyumu stands on Menderes Bulvarı in Rize.

The build ran from December 2007 through August 2009, and the ground opened on 12 August that year with a friendly against Fenerbahçe. It carried the name Yeni Rize Şehir Stadyumu, the new city stadium, until 22 August 2015, when the tea company that already backed the club put its name on the building as well, and Çaykur Didi Stadyumu replaced it.

Capacity sits at 15,558, modest against Turkey's larger provincial grounds but proportionate to a city Rize's size, where the stadium reads less as a statement and more as a fixture of daily life. The hybrid turf, mixing natural grass with reinforcing fibres, is the kind of detail that matters more on a coast where rain arrives often than it would inland.
