Ballymena Showgrounds
Ballymena F.C. played here from 1928 until financial irregularities finished it off, and Ballymena United took over from the 1934/35 season onwards.
Neither has the name. The only recent addition to the signage came in January 2026, when one of the stands was renamed the Norman McBurney OBE Stand after a former chairman.
What has changed is the shape of the place. Before the 2001 rebuild the ground was reckoned to hold around 8,000; demolishing the old Clock Stand and putting up the New Stand in its place cost £30m and cut that figure sharply. The Warden Street side followed in 2010, converted to all-seater and lifted to 2,200. Safety regulations hold matchday admission to 3,600.
A hybrid 3G pitch was approved in June 2026, with installation set for the summer of 2027 — the grass having already survived one threat, the hot rod racing track that ran on the site until 2019 and was closed after the club complained about damage to it.
