Beirne Stadium
Smithfield, United States
Formerly: Bulldog Stadium
The stadium itself is a practical piece of infrastructure, built in 1999 to host the university’s first varsity football season. It opened as Bulldog Stadium before receiving its current name nearly two decades later, following a donation from an alumnus and his wife.
The playing surface is artificial turf, which was fitted during renovations in 2018 to replace the original grass. This change coincided with the installation of permanent lighting, making it the first college stadium in Rhode Island with such facilities. The surface was updated again in November 2023, ensuring a consistent playing area for all teams that use the facility.
While the stadium is primarily associated with Bryant University, it has also hosted professional football during the 2024 season when Rhode Island FC played their home matches there. Temporary seating was added to accommodate the league's crowds, bringing the capacity up to 5,252 for those fixtures. This arrangement highlights the stadium's role as a flexible venue, capable of hosting both collegiate and professional games.
The stadium remains a functional and integral part of the local sports landscape, serving multiple teams and events throughout the year.
