Belson Stadium
Belson Stadium sits inside the St. John's University campus in Jamaica, Queens, and it belongs to the university outright. The money behind it came from two alumni, Jerome and Maxine Belson, whose donation covered construction while a separate fund paid for parking and grounds work; the stadium carries their name and has never carried any other.
The building went up in under two years, opening in September 2002, though the finishing touches — press box, suites, a media room — did not arrive until summer 2004, and the ground has kept the same shape and the same 2,168 seats ever since.
Its record crowd came on a September night in 2009, when St. John's beat Georgetown 2-0 in a Big East fixture and drew just over 2,500 through the gates. Its biggest occasion by far arrived in November 2016, when the NASL brought its championship game here: New York Cosmos and Indy Eleven played out a scoreless draw before Cosmos won it on penalties.
What it has not hosted is any of the arena-scale concerts that larger venues chase — Belson has stayed a college soccer ground first.
