Benteler-Arena

The archive does not hold a record for this venue under its current name, yet the structure itself retains the history of what it was called before. It opened on 20 July 2008, replacing the old Hermann-Löns-Stadion, which had fallen short of the standards set by the DFB. The project was not without friction; construction halted in January 2008 following resident lawsuits and funding disputes, with a final settlement reached in March before the opening match. That first game was a friendly against Borussia Dortmund.

SC Paderborn 07 have not been a permanent fixture in the top flight. The ground’s capacity sits at 15,000, a figure reached after an expansion in 2020 that added seats to accommodate the promotion of SC Verl to the 3. Liga. Renovations began in May 2023 to install upper tiers around all four sides, aiming to bring the ground up to Bundesliga standards. The pitch is natural grass with undersoil heating.

The architecture is functional, designed by Josef Ellebracht and constructed by Bremer AG. It has hosted international fixtures for the senior and youth teams, including a friendly against Turkey in 2021 and qualifiers for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The location is marked by the Wilfried-Finke-Allee address.
