Berceni Arena
Bucharest, Romania
Formerly: Patinoarul "Doru Tureanu"
The ground you see is not for football. It is a skating rink, a sheet of ice built for a different kind of game. This is Berceni Arena, a facility opened in 2024 for public skating and ice hockey.
It sits in Bucharest, in Sector 4, not in the suburb of Berceni where a football stadium stands. That other ground is old and rebuilt; this one is new. It was built by a construction group for the local municipality at a cost of 10 million euros. The first match played here was a cup final in August, the first time a proper ice hockey game had been staged in the city for twelve years. The place was full, 800 people watching.
The surface is artificial, a standard sheet of ice that covers the floor entirely. There is no grass to slip on here. The seating is low, close to the boards. The address is Strada Drumul Jilavei.
The arena was renamed in September 2026 after Doru Tureanu, a player who once skated on similar sheets. This is a different place entirely, a modern facility for a winter sport.
