Bislett kept its name through a rebuild that left nothing of the original standing. The stadium that had held the site in St. Hanshaugen since 1922 was pulled down in 2004, and its replacement went up on the same ground, opening on 29 July 2005 with a Bislett Games meeting. Sponsors have since attached their names to that athletics meeting; the arena itself has never been renamed.

Its biggest crowd belongs to the building that no longer exists. In 1947, 31,412 came for the replayed Norwegian Cup final, in which Lyn took Fredrikstad apart 4-0. That figure has stood ever since.

Football has come and gone here rather than settled. Vålerenga used the ground on and off between 1944 and 1999, Skeid from 2007 to 2012, and Lyn for a season in 2010 before returning in 2014 and staying. Mangerud Star played a year there in 2006. Norway's rugby side has also taken the pitch on occasion.

Day to day the place is run by Bislettalliansen, an alliance of the clubs IL i BUL, IK Tjalve and SK Vidar, acting on behalf of the municipality of Oslo. The keys, in other words, sit with athletics clubs, while the football tenants arrive on leases and move on.
