Brandcode Center
Sundsvall, Sweden
Formerly: Gärdehallen, Sundsvalls Energi Arena
The Brandcode Center does not announce itself with grandeur.
The arena has seen three different names over its history, a shift in branding that reflects the town's changing priorities. For decades it was known as Gärdehallen, a local institution in the Gärde district. When Sundsvall Energi took over the naming rights in 2000, the identity changed again, before becoming the Brandcode Center in 2020. The capacity has tightened since those early days; where 3,300 people once squeezed into the stands, the current configuration holds 2,500.
It is not solely a hockey venue. The space is shared with figure skating clubs, who bring a different kind of rhythm to the ice.
