BREDS Sports Park
Treasure Beach, Jamaica
The ground in Treasure Beach sits apart from the usual rhythm of Jamaican football. It is away in St. Elizabeth, where the sea is close and the road is long. The facility opened its football pitch in 2013, a project driven by the BREDS Foundation to bring a structured sporting space to the parish.
The facility is a modern addition to a landscape that is otherwise quiet.
The pitch itself is natural grass, kept in good condition by the local maintenance team. There is no running track around the perimeter, which keeps the focus entirely on the game. Treasure Beach FC play here, competing in the second tier of Jamaican football.
The facility also includes tennis courts and a cricket pitch, alongside the football ground. A climbing wall was added in 2013, the first of its kind in the country. These amenities suggest the ground is meant to serve more than one community. It is not just a place for watching football, but a centre for sport in the parish.
The atmosphere is different to the big stadiums. The stands are close to the pitch. It is a peaceful place, far from the noise of the cities. The ground has not changed its name since it was built, and it remains managed by Irie Development Limited.
