Brentford's move left the club with nothing to go back to: Griffin Park, the home it vacated, was pulled down once the club had gone. The new ground opened on 1 September 2020, and the largest crowd it has held came more than five years later — 17,224 against Arsenal on 12 February 2026.

The playing surface is Desso GrassMaster, roughly 95 per cent natural grass stitched through with synthetic fibre, the same construction laid at Wembley. In the summer of 2022 the West Stand and the north-east corner were converted to rail seating to meet the revised government rules on standing; on 28 July that year a ten-year agreement with Grey Technology changed the name to the Gtech Community Stadium.

UEFA Women's Euro 2022 gave it four fixtures — Germany against Denmark on 8 July, Germany against Spain on 12 July, Denmark against Spain on 16 July, and the quarter-final between Germany and Austria on 21 July. In 2025 the Unity Cup brought Ghana, Jamaica, Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago, with Jamaica and Nigeria meeting in the final.

AFL Architects drew it and the Buckingham Group built it, at a cost of £71 million. The design allows for expansion past 20,000 seats. None of that has been built.
