Bulgarian Army Stadium

Walk this stretch of Bulevard Dragan Tsankov today and it is a building site: the old bowl came down in 2023 and 2024, and what rises in its place carries a UEFA category 4 rating, a closed roof, a heated hybrid pitch and solar panels built into the structure.

It opened as Atletik Park in 1923, home to AS-23, then passed to Chavdar in 1944. When Chavdar merged with the army's Central House club in 1948, the result was CSKA, and the ground took the name Narodna Armia, kept until 1990. A short spell as plain "CSKA" followed before the current name, Bulgarska Armia, settled in 1993.

Capacity reached 22,015 after the 1997–98 rebuild swapped wooden benches for plastic seating to meet UEFA requirements. The ground also hosted Andrea Bocelli in 2014.
