Bunyodkor

Bunyodkor replaced the demolished MHSK stadium on the same footprint in Chilanzar district, opening on 28 September 2012 as a deliberate marker of a century of football in the country: the first match, a 3-3 friendly against Pakhtakor, doubled as the anniversary fixture. The competitive record started six months later, on 26 March 2013, when the national team beat Lebanon 1-0 in World Cup qualifying — the match that would return here on 10 June 2025 to see off Qatar 3-0 and confirm a place at the 2026 finals.

The name has moved twice without the ground itself changing. The Football Association renamed it Milliy — National — on 11 June 2018, only to reverse that on 1 May 2021 once the switch was ruled to have had no legal basis; Bunyodkor came back and has stayed.

Continental finals have found their way here more than once. Saudi Arabia beat the hosts 2-0 in the 2022 Asian U-23 final, and just under a year later, on 18 March 2023, Uzbekistan turned the result around at that age group, beating Iraq 1-0 in the U-20 final. The venue also staged the 2017 Uzbekistan Cup final, won by Lokomotiv.

None of that prepared the pitch for Jennifer Lopez.

Capacity has held at 34,000 since the gates first opened, with no expansion or rebuild since 2012.
