Buraibay Sports Palace
Kokshetau, Kazakhstan
The Buraibay Sports Palace in Kokshetau is a functional indoor arena situated at ul. Budennogo 83. Built between 2007 and 2009 by TOO SK 'Kulager', the venue opened its doors in August 2010 with a commissioning act signed shortly after. It serves as the home arena for the ice hockey team HK Arlan Kokshetau, hosting games on an artificial ice surface. The seating capacity is generally cited at 1,500 spectators for sporting events, though the Kazakhstan Ice Hockey Federation lists it at 1,600. For concerts and other non-hockey events, the space can be expanded to hold up to 3,000 people. A temporary stand of 200 seats was mentioned at the time of opening, but the permanent configuration has remained stable since. The venue has not undergone any name changes; it has been known as the Burabay Sports Palace from its inception. The name 'Buraibay' appears to be a misspelling of 'Burabay'. The database entry may have confused this venue with the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, which was originally named the Palace of Sports named after the 50th Anniversary of the October Revolution and was built in 1967, but the Kokshetau facility is distinct. The location is in the Aqmola region of Kazakhstan. The address is also sometimes cited as ul. Talgat Begeldinov 83.
