Cae Gwalia

The pitch takes its name from the street it sits on, in Llanuwchllyn, a village in Gwynedd. Cae Gwalia is the ground of CPD Llanuwchllyn, the club known in English as Llanuwchllyn FC, founded in 1957 — a date the ground itself cannot match, because no year of building or opening for it is recorded anywhere in the open record.

What the ground does have is an arrangement rather than an owner. The club pays for the use of the Village Hall next door, and the money it hands over goes back into the hall. That points towards the land sitting with the community — the Community Council, or the trust that runs the hall — though nobody has written the legal position down. It is the sort of ground where the changing facilities and the fixture list depend on the same building the village uses for everything else.

No attendance record has ever been logged here, so the crowd figures survive only as scattered notes against particular afternoons. Seventy-seven watched Buckley Town in 2012. A hundred and seventy-four came for Rhyl in 2026. The largest of the recorded gates, around four hundred, was for Newtown in 2024 — a number that says more about who was visiting than about the village.

The surface is grass. There have been no significant rebuilds to speak of, no cup finals, no concerts.
