Campus Perspektiven
Huttwil, Switzerland
Formerly: Nationales Sportzentrum
The Campus Perspektiven does not look like a football ground at first glance. It sits in Schwarzenbach , a district of Huttwil in the Canton of Bern, and its shape is dictated by the ice rink rather than the pitch. Beyond them the sports complex spreads out: two football pitches sit side by side, separated by a running track that circles the area.
What makes the place different from the identical one down the road is its history. It began in 1997 as the Nationales Sportzentrum , a national centre for winter sports. In 2008 the facility changed hands, and eight years later the rebranding into Campus Perspektiven brought a new identity.
Stands are divided into sections for seating and standing places, though the layout follows the older ice-hockey configuration.
Teams from the district use the space for different sports. Hockey Huttwil plays on the ice, while local unihockey and skating clubs share the indoor hall. Outside, Young Fellows United Huttwil 2017 trains on one of the grass pitches.
The architecture is functional. What remains is a working sports centre, adapted over time for the needs of the town.
