Cardiff City Stadium
Cardiff City did not sell the naming rights. The plan existed when the ground opened on 22 July 2009, and it came to nothing: the stadium has carried the same name ever since.
In 2014 the Ninian Stand gained a second tier and about 5,150 seats, taking the capacity from 26,828 to 33,280 — part of a £35 million investment by co-owner Vincent Tan, of which £12 million went into the stadium itself. That figure of 33,280 is also the attendance record, set on 8 September 2015 when Wales beat Belgium 2–1 in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier.
The following month of the previous year had brought the UEFA Super Cup here: 12 August 2014, Real Madrid 2–0 Sevilla, 30,854 through the turnstiles. Beyoncé and Jay-Z played the On the Run II Tour on 6 June 2018, with Stereophonics and Metallica among the other acts.
The pitch is a SISGrass hybrid — natural grass stitched with synthetic fibre — and is rated among the best surfaces in the country.
