Central Park

Central Park shares its pitch with a race track. the Racewall, after the banked oval that hosted grand prix racing from 1928 to 1965, then speedway bikes for a single season, before stock cars took over the surface from 1970 and never left.

The main stand went up in 1921, four years after the ground opened, and stood until 1992, when fire tore through half of it. What survived became the West Stand, and in March 1995 the club opened the Alex Menzies Stand beside it, along with new dressing rooms and offices — the rebuild that gave Central Park the shape it has kept since.

The record crowd has stood since 1949, when 25,586 packed in for a Scottish League Cup tie against Rangers, a figure that dwarfs anything the ground sees now and speaks to the scale of the visiting support that day more than to Cowdenbeath's own pull. The name Central Park has never been sold to a sponsor since the gates first opened.
