Central Stadium Metallurg

The Central Stadium of Metallurgists, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution, opened on 15 July 1967. It has kept the name Central ever since, with no sponsor rebrand to complicate the record.

What separates it from the city's other well-known arena is worth spelling out, since the two are easy to confuse. This is the football ground on Elektroseti Street; the ice arena that shares the Metallurg name, home to the hockey club, sits across town on Lenin Avenue and opened decades later, in 2007.

Between 2015 and 2017, the running track was replaced, the concourse areas beneath the stands were refurbished, and part of the seating was renewed. The pitch itself changed character in 2015, when the natural turf gave way to an artificial surface.

Capacity today stands at 13,000, though older listings for the ground put the number lower, a discrepancy tidied up once the renovation work was complete.
