Central Stadium "Pakhtakor"

Pakhtakor Central Stadium After the 1979 air disaster that killed much of Pakhtakor's first team, it was here that the rebuilt side played its first home match, with around 60,000 supporters standing for a minute's silence before kick-off.

The stadium opened in August 1956, and its first international fixture followed the next month, a win over Albania's Dinamo Tirana. Attendance records were set three times through the 1960s, against Dinamo Tbilisi, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Kyiv, each drawing crowds of 65,000. A 1996 rebuild cut capacity to 55,000, and a further overhaul in 2007–2008 brought plastic seating in Pakhtakor's blue and yellow, a light-blue running track, a video screen and a press centre, but left room for only 35,000. The pitch itself was relaid to European standard in 2012.

Between 1992 and 2012, this was also the national team's home ground. It has staged two domestic cup finals — Pakhtakor's win over Neftchi Fergana in 2001 and the 2019 League Cup final between AGMK and Pakhtakor.
