The sports complex inside Parque Simón Bolívar is a collection of synthetic pitches rather than a single stadium. Official records from the IDRD date the central facilities to 1991, when the first major phase of the park opened.

There is no fixed seating bowl here. The space is defined by open fields and the surrounding urban density. When not used for local matches, the area transforms for large-scale events. The park was established by law in 1979, with the architect Arturo Robledo Ocampo overseeing the initial layout. The central area, known as Parque Central Simón Bolívar, was inaugurated on December 15, 1991.

Professional football in Bogotá remains distant. Independiente Santa Fe and Millonarios play at Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín, a venue with a different kind of permanence. This site is different. It is a place for cycling, basketball, and tennis as much as football.
