Cherkasy Arena

The stands went up in a hurry. Local people were mobilised to build them in under 42 hours so the ground could open on 9 November 1957, timed to the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution, with construction supervised by Ivan Lutak. It opened as Kolhospnyk and held around 15,000. The first match was a friendly against Dynamo Kyiv, lost 1:3.

What was thrown together in wood did not stay that way. In 1981 the wooden structures were replaced with concrete stands, and in 2011 a renovation costing roughly 5.6 million UAH brought new seating, lighting, a scoreboard and irrigation, work done to bring the ground up to European standards. The capacity that came out of all this is smaller than the one it started with.

The names changed as often as the stands: Central Stadium , then Stadium named after the Lenin Komsomol , and since 2020 Cherkasy Arena .

It sits in the centre of Cherkasy, next to Sobornyi Park in the Soborny area. In 2014, after the Russian invasion, Shakhtar Donetsk played three matches here. The ground now hosts LNZ Cherkasy and Cherkaskyi Dnipro , and in 2026 it held a UEFA Conference League tie in which LNZ and Gent gave nothing away in a 0:0 draw.
