The ground sits inside Suan Luang Chaloem Phra Kiat Rama IX Park. Chonburi Stadium was built as a multi-purpose venue for the 39th Thailand National Games, which were held in the province from 5 to 19 December 2010. The official opening date was in December 2010.

The pitch itself is natural grass.

Chonburi F.C. has played its home matches here since the 2010/2011 season, after the club had won the Thai Premier League title the previous year. The ground also serves as the home venue for Timor-Leste, which lacks a stadium meeting AFC standards. Timor-Leste played Brunei Darussalam in a 0–0 draw on 15 October 2024 during the 2024 ASEAN Championship Qualification, and later faced Vietnam and Indonesia in the 2026 ASEAN Championship Group Stage.

A significant refurbishment was completed in May 2022, which included new floodlighting, a re-turfed pitch, and upgraded seating to meet AFC A+ certification standards. The venue hosted the 2017 AFC U-16 Women's Asian Cup and the 2019 AFC U-19 Women's Championship among other tournaments. The highest recorded attendance was 6,564 spectators for a match against Thai Port on 19 February 2011.

The capacity stands at 8,680. The ground is owned and operated by the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, which financed the construction. It is located at 38/1 Phraya Satcha Road in Samet Subdistrict.
