Chorten Arena

Białystok's arena carries a construction history rougher than its finished bowl suggests. The city committed to a new stadium in 2006, only to watch the project outlast its original contractor: Eiffage Budownictwo/Mitex was removed from the site, and Hydrobudowy Polska, brought in afterwards, collapsed into bankruptcy before the job was finished. A consortium led by the Spanish firm OHL took over the unfinished structure and carried it through to completion, with the build running from 2010 to 2014.

The ground rose on the footprint of an older stadium on the same plot — the Gwardia, later known as the Hetman, dating back to the early 1970s — before that structure was cleared away. Jagiellonia Białystok opened the new stadium on 18 October 2014, hosting Pogoń Szczecin in the first Ekstraklasa fixture played there, and the club has called it home since.

For a decade it carried the plain municipal name Stadion Miejski w Białymstoku. That changed on 19 September 2024, when a five-year sponsorship agreement renamed it Chorten Arena, retiring the unofficial nicknames — Stadion Gwardii, Stadion Hetmana, Stadion Jagiellonii — that fans had used depending on which era of the ground they remembered.
