Providence Park is what it is called now, though the records show it has gone by Civic Stadium and several others before that.

The history here is not written in stone. The site opened as Multnomah Field in 1893, long before the first professional football team arrived. The City of Portland bought it in 1966 and gave it the name Civic Stadium, which stuck until the commercial era began. The current artificial turf is a modern addition, replacing the natural grass that used to play host to the NASL.

Providence Park does not pretend to be something it is not. It sits at 1844 SW Morrison St, a location that has been the centre of the city’s sporting life for more than a century.
