Clappers Lane
Between 2020 and 2025 Gresford Athletic played their home league fixtures elsewhere — at Airbus UK Broughton and at Cefn Druids — because the ground no longer met league infrastructure requirements or the sanitary standards, pandemic protocols among them, that came with them. The club returned to Clappers Lane for home matches in April 2026.
Gresford Athletic have been here since the club was formed in 1946, on the same field, under the same name. No previous names are recorded, and the arena has never been rebuilt from scratch. What it has had is patching. In 2001 the club committee raised money to bring the ground up to Cymru Alliance standard — seating installed, dugouts, work on the playing surface. In 2017 parts of that infrastructure were vandalised.
Gresford Athletic reached the FAW Trophy final in 2000/01 and lost it 0-1 to Ragged School. In the Welsh Cup they have beaten Barry Town United 2-0 and St Asaph City 5-0, and in 2024/25 they went as far as the semi-final.
