What stands out is not the architecture, but the way the ground holds its history, or rather, how it has shed it. The city council removed the surname, and the stadium became simply Estadio Coliseum. That shift in nomenclature is the most significant event in its recent life, marking a break from the past rather than a continuation of it.

The physical structure reflects that tension between the old and the new. The original concrete bowl, built for a smaller crowd, still forms the base, but it looks increasingly like a foundation for something else. A new roof is being planned to enclose the ring, and the capacity is set to swell again, this time beyond 18,500. The promise of 69 VIP boxes and integrated lighting changing the character of the matchday experience.

There is a visible difference in how the stands absorb the elements.

The ground has hosted major finals, including the UEFA Women's Champions League, yet it remains firmly rooted in the daily life of Getafe. It is not a monument to a single era but a working venue that is currently rewriting its own physical identity. The removal of the former name and the addition of the new roof are part of the same narrative: a club and a city deciding what they want to look like in the future.
