Covebo Stadion – De Koel
Venlo's stadium sits south of the centre, in the Veegtes district, on ground that has carried a ground for football since well before the current build went up. What sets De Koel apart is the record still hanging over the place: nearly 24,500 people packed in for VVV-Venlo against Ajax. Covebo Stadion – De Koel has been trimmed down twice, in the early 2000s and again in 2007.
The pitch itself has gone back and forth. Artificial turf went in during 2013 and stayed for the best part of a decade before the club returned to grass in 2020.
It has never hosted a cup final or a match for the Dutch national side, and its rare brush with continental company came in the summer of 2021, when Panathinaikos visited for a friendly. Mostly, though, it stays what it has always been: a home ground for VVV-Venlo.
