The Dalga Arena sits on the edge of Baku in the Mardakan settlement. It is a place where the pitch is natural grass now, but it was not always so. The turf was changed in March 2016, just before the UEFA European Under-17 Championship arrived in the city. That switch matters more than the concrete around it, because that is where the games happen.

The stands are quiet in the photographs. The capacity is 6,500, but the record for this ground is 31,400. That figure came in 2012, when Neftchi Baku played Internazionale in the UEFA Europa League. The number is higher than the number of seats in the building. The match was played under the floodlights, and the game was won by the visitors, who put the game to bed early .

The stadium is owned by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan. It hosts the national team, but also the U-17, U-19 and U-21 sides. Araz are the current tenants for their fixtures. In February 2024 the name changed to Liv Bona Dea Arena, after a sponsorship deal. The arena also saw the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which was Azerbaijan’s first FIFA event on this scale.
