Danie Craven Stadium
Danie Craven Stadium is run by Stellenbosch University. Stellenbosch FC made it their home only in 2020, once renovations brought the venue in line with modern safety legislation. Since October 2025 the stadium has been closed for reconstruction ahead of the 2026 FISU World University Rugby Sevens Championship.
The rugby pedigree predates the university's current stewardship by decades: on 3 June 1995 the stadium staged a Rugby World Cup pool match between Australia and Romania. It opened in 1979 with room for 16,000, on Coetzenburg Street, and has never had a website of its own — anyone looking for it lands on the university's facilities-management pages or on Stellenbosch FC's site instead. In August 2026 a sponsorship deal added a second name to the signage, Danie Craven Stadium powered by Salt EB, though the 1979 name has stayed in everyday use. The playing surface is natural kikuyu grass.
