Daugava Stadium
Liepāja, Latvia
Formerly: Strādnieku stadions, Pilsētas stadions
The track is a bright, hard red that cuts sharply against the green of the pitch, and it forces you to watch from a distance.
It has been here since 1925, when Liepāja marked its 300th anniversary. The name it carries now is Daugava Stadium, but it was known as Pilsētas stadions for longer than that, right up until 1990. It was originally Strādnieku stadions, which is to say Workers' Stadium. The old name sits quietly in the history, even if the current one sounds more like a river.
The ground has hosted the national side and the Baltic Cup several times over the years, including a recent tournament in 2024. FK Liepājas Metalurgs played here when they won the Latvian Virslīga, a success that is not repeated under the current tenants, FK Liepāja. The capacity is a matter of some debate; the numbers found in different places do not quite agree on whether there are 5,000 or 4,000 seats.
The reserve field is tucked away, smaller and quieter than the main arena, but it still holds about 650 people.
