Deepdale
Preston North End have played at Deepdale since before the Football League existed — the ground hosted its first matches in 1878, on what had been a simple farm field.
The capacity tells only part of the story. Deepdale once held crowds of 45,000 on open terraces, and the record attendance — 42,684, set on 23 April 1938 for a First Division fixture against Arsenal — belongs to that era. Each stand carries a name tied to the club's history rather than a sponsor's.
The pitch itself has been through its own reversal. Artificial turf covered Deepdale from 1986 to 1994, a period supporters did not look back on fondly, and the ground has since returned to grass — most recently a hybrid GrassMaster surface installed as part of work ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Further back, in 1913, suffragettes attempted to set fire to one of the stands.
