Deutsche Bank Park
Deutsche Bank Park stands in the city forest of Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen. The ground traces back to 1925, when the original Waldstadion opened on 21 May, but it was pulled down in 2002, and the new arena reopened in May 2005, in time to host matches at the 2006 World Cup. That was not the ground's first World Cup: it had already staged games, including the opening ceremony, in 1974, back when a mid-1950s rebuild following crowd trouble in 1953 had briefly pushed capacity as high as 87,000.
The name has changed twice since the rebuild — Commerzbank-Arena from 2005, Deutsche Bank Park from 1 July 2020 — while UEFA and FIFA have insisted on neutral branding of their own during tournaments. Eintracht Frankfurt run the venue under a fifteen-year lease signed in 2020, and the club's fingerprints are on the most recent building work too: a 2022–2023 expansion of the north stand pushed capacity up from 51,500, part of it by putting terracing back in the upper tier.
The old Waldstadion still holds the attendance record, 81,000 packed in for the 1959 Oberliga Süd final between Eintracht and FK Pirmasens. Major finals have found their way here repeatedly — the 1980 UEFA Cup final, the 2005 Confederations Cup final, the first Women's UEFA Cup final in 2002, the 2011 Women's World Cup final — and the ground is booked in again for the Women's Euro 2029 and the 2027 Europa League final. Away from football, it has hosted an Ali fight, NFL games and Rammstein among the acts to return more than once.
