Dick's Sporting Goods Park

Commerce City got a football ground that owes nothing to the baseball and gridiron shapes around it. Dick's Sporting Goods Park was drawn by Populous as a soccer-specific venue. The West Stand carries the main seating and the hospitality; East and South run the touchline and the end.

The grass is Kentucky Bluegrass, grown in Colorado rather than trucked in, which is a quieter piece of local sourcing than it sounds: the surface has to survive a climate that swings hard between seasons.

The seat count moves with the occasion. The listed figure for league football is 18,061. Playoffs and international fixtures push it to 19,734. A concert takes it to 27,000, and a festival spilling out onto the surrounding fields can hold 40,000 — the stadium is one building on a much larger complex, and the fields beyond the stands are part of what it is.

It went through the 2020–21 period at reduced capacity, with the seats filled again from July 2021.
