Dizel Arena
Penza, Russia
Formerly: Dizel Arena
Dizel Arena stands as the only large-scale sports venue in Penza. The building’s architecture, executed by Croatian architects with local labour, reflects its function as a dedicated arena.
The facility opened in December 2011, providing the local club Dizel with a permanent home in the VHL, alongside the junior team Dizelist. It includes a training rink, a 25-metre swimming pool, and a gymnasium, creating a self-contained sports cluster. The main hall seats 5,500 spectators, a capacity that remains unchanged since its inauguration.
One defining moment for the venue occurred in June 2020, when it received the name of Aleksandr Kozhevnikov, a legendary Soviet hockey player and double Olympic champion who was a native of Penza. The home side secured a 2:1 victory in overtime before a crowd of 4,440, a figure that stands as the highest for the venue.
