Dog & Duck Stadium
Wellingborough, United Kingdom
The Dog & Duck Stadium sits on London Road in Wellingborough. The ground holds a capacity of 2,500, which Europlan Online and Sportiko confirm, though the precise date the pitch first hosted a game remains uncertain, with records pointing only to the early years of the last century when Wellingborough Town joined the Southern League Division One.
The playing surface is natural grass, a standard for the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands where Wellingborough Town now compete. It is not an isolated venue; AFC Rushden & Diamonds groundshared here from 2011 to 2017, while Wellingborough Whitworth FC plays on an adjacent pitch at the same complex. The site is not untouched by history, however. When the original club ceased operations, part of the land was sold to Whitbread's for a Premier Inn hotel.
The stadium features 'Dale's Bar' in memory of former goalkeeper Dale Roberts. The ground has seen its share of rising waters, with the River Nene bursting its banks in 2025 to cause significant flooding. That water level is a recent memory, but the club’s history goes further back. Wellingborough Town appeared in the FA Cup 1st Round in 1928, losing 2-1 to Bristol Rovers, and again in 1965 against Aldershot. The final match at the venue before a period of transition was played on April 22, 2017, against Carlton Town. The original structure had no stands or terracing, only two small pavilions.
