Doha Stadium

The name gives visitors pause before the football does. Doha Stadium sits in Sakhnin, a town in Israel's Galilee, and has nothing to do with the Qatari capital — a 2012 petition to rename it HaShalom, the Peace Stadium, went nowhere, and the arena kept the name that keeps confusing search engines.

What sets it apart locally is that it belongs entirely to Bnei Sakhnin, the club that put this town on the football map, and the ground grew up alongside the team rather than being handed down from a bigger project. It opened in two bites: a first phase that held 4,500 people, then a rebuilt north stand in 2009 that pushed capacity to 8,500, where it has stayed since.

The work since has been steady rather than dramatic. A 2017–2018 overhaul added a media tower and east-side camera positions, covered part of the west stand, and refreshed the dressing rooms, ticket booths and irrigation. A longer round of renovation between 2023 and 2025 replaced seating, upgraded the floodlights, fitted electronic turnstiles and redid the pitch again — long enough that Bnei Sakhnin had to play its home fixtures in Acre while the builders were in. The club returned to its own ground in March 2025.

The pitch itself is natural grass, tended through all those phases, and the address — 1 Sakhnin Blvd — points straight at a stadium built for one club, in one town, with no ambition to be anything else.
