Dr. Kwame Kyei Park
Abrankese, Ghana
Formerly: Anane Boateng Sports Stadium, Abrankese Stadium
The Dr. Kwame Kyei Park sits in the quiet of the Bosomtwe District, a long way from the centre of Kumasi. Originally built in 2007 as a private venture for the Kessben Group, the ground carried the name Anane Boateng Sports Stadium through a decade of local football. It served as the home for Kessben FC before that club sold up and moved to Tarkwa, leaving the stadium empty for a few years.
Ownership changed hands in 2022 when Dr. Kwame Kyei took over the facility. He renamed it after himself and set about upgrading the place for the next chapter. The capacity stayed at 12,000, but the feel of the place shifted.
The current tenant is Nations FC, who arrived for the 2022-23 season. The stadium also saw Medeama SC use the ground for a decade, a period when the venue hosted regular top-flight matches.
It is not a glamorous ground, but it holds its own in the region.
The stadium is sometimes called Abrankese Stadium by the locals.
