Some grounds have worn two or three sponsors' names since the 1990s. Easter Road has kept its own throughout: Hibernian's board turned down offers to sell the naming rights, and only individual stands, among them the Pat Stanton Stand, carry other names.

The ground has stood in Leith since 1893, and its record crowd dates back further than most: 65,860 people packed in for a match in 1950, still the highest attendance recorded outside Glasgow in Scotland. Safety requirements cut that capacity hard over the following decades — down to 30,000 in 1975, then 27,000 through the 1980s, and to 13,500 by 1994, just before Hibernian rebuilt the place.

The £8 million reconstruction that followed, completed in 1995, made Easter Road all-seated. A new West Stand went up in 2001, and the East Stand, later renamed for club great Pat Stanton, followed in 2010, taking capacity to its current 20,421.

The pitch itself is a recent change: a hybrid surface replaced the natural turf in 2023, funded by the Gordon family alongside work on the club's training centre. Rugby has had a spell here too — Edinburgh Rugby played their 1998–99 season at the ground before returning to their own home.
