Eishalle Passau

Passau, Germany

Formerly: IceGate, IceGate powered by CommuniGate

The Eis-Arena Passau is a functional hall in the Kohlbruck district. It opened in 2003, constructed specifically to house the EHF Passau Black Hawks, who entered league play that same year. The facility sits within the Messepark Kohlbruck complex.

While the primary tenants have moved between the Oberliga and the Landesliga, it is a multi-purpose venue, often used for figure skating, ice stock sport, and public skating sessions, though the Black Hawks are the reason it exists. The capacity is listed as 1,500 spectators, a figure that has stabilised after older sources cited 1,200; this includes 200 seated places, 1,300 standing places, and four wheelchair spaces.

The most significant disruption in its history occurred in August 2026, when an ammonia leak from the cooling system forced the evacuation of the arena and the adjacent Passau Erlebnisbad swimming pool. Since then, it has been known as the Eis-Arena Passau, or simply Eishalle Passau.

The highest recorded attendance was 1,500, achieved during a derby match against Deggendorfer SC on February 3, 2025.
