Železarnica

Ask a Skopje regular where Metalurg used to play and half will point you first to the old name, Metalurg, before anyone says Železarnica. It sits on Jane Lukroski street, a tight, low-key enclosure that never tried to be more than a working ground: natural grass, three thousand seats, nothing built for show.

What sets it apart in Skopje is less about the structure than the succession. Metalurg Skopje, the club the stadium was named for, folded after the 2016–17 season, and the ground stayed on rather than going quiet with it — FK Skopje moved in and now uses it as their home fixture in the First Football League. Sources differ on how many the stands can actually hold, some putting the figure closer to four thousand and others under two thousand, which suggests the capacity has been reshaped at some point without any record of when or why surviving.

It is a stadium defined by outliving its own name.
