Manresa built new because the old ground had run its course. Camp del Pujolet had served CE Manresa since 1926, and by the mid-1980s the club needed something the city could stand behind for the long term.
The ground belongs to the city council rather than the club.
None of that has changed the surface underfoot, which remains artificial turf, or displaced CE Manresa as the tenant the stadium was built for in the first place.
